Chahayis COVID 19 Response Plan

Introduction

This document provides interim guidance for preventing the transmission of COVID-19 to Chahayis- Ocean on the Beach Retreat employees and guests. To limit the spread of COVID-19, the Provincial Health Officer has issued Orders that impact the hospitality industry. These Orders outline conditions and provide specific direction regarding the services provided at Chahayis. This document will outline new measures put into place across all departments and will be revised as needed based on provincial and district direction. This document applies to all employees and contract workers. This document is fluid and will be updated as we progress in our  reopening of Chahayis .

General Information

COVID-19 is spread through large liquid droplets when a person infected with COVID-19 coughs or sneezes. The virus in these droplets can enter through the eyes, nose or mouth of another person if they are in close contact with the person who coughed or sneezed. COVID-19 is not transmitted through particles in the air and is not something that can enter the body through the skin. The symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to other respiratory illnesses, including the flu and the common cold. These symptoms include cough, sneezing, fever, sore throat and difficulty breathing. People infected with COVID-19 may experience little or no symptoms, with illness ranging from mild to severe. People who are contacts of a confirmed COVID-19 case, meaning they have been or could have been exposed to the virus, but do not have symptoms, are required to self-isolate. Self-isolation means staying home and avoiding situations where you could come in contact with others. Isolated individuals may NOT use any common areas or implements, including ice or pop machines, shared laundry facilities. You must stay at home and self quarantine for 14 days if you are sick to avoid spreading illness to others. Practice diligent hand hygiene at all times by washing with plain soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Practice cough etiquette by coughing into your elbow or covering your mouth and nose with a disposable tissue when you sneeze. Immediately dispose of used tissues and wash your hands. At all times you must maintain a physical distance of two metres from others. Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands. Do not share food, drinks, utensils, cigarettes, vaping devices, joints or bongs.

Guests

Chahayis is doing its best to provide you a safe, secure, and revitalizing time while you visit Tofino. We have added some protocols to our safety policy.

Our check in times permit us to allow the house to rest for a minimum of 3 hours as recommended by the provincial health authority, before the management and cleaning staff come in to change it over. It also allows the cleaning team to spend an extra hour to ensure all touchable surfaces are sanitized and disinfected.

Our staff will wear PPE at all times while the buildings. They are also instructed not to come to work if feeling the slightest sickness.

We have also provided extra time and staff to help if someone on the cleaning staff is unable to come to work for illness or social isolation.

We are happy to see you come up to Tofino, but if you are at all sick or at risk of passing on an infection we insist you stay at home. When you are here we remind you to socially distance yourself from anyone outside of your ‘bubble’, and when unable to distance yourself we believe it is best to wear a mask.  Wash your hands frequently. Chahayis has placed hand sanitizer and soap dispensers throughout the buildings.  If you sneeze or cough remember to cough into your elbow. If you suspect that you are getting sick, self isolate, and talk to a health care professional. If you are able to travel please get home as soon as you are able.

Please inform us if you come down with any illness, either while you are in Tofino or within 14 days of staying at Chahayis.
